Why salt is important in pregnancy?

Why salt is important in pregnancy?

12/07/2016
The medical community used to suggest that pregnant women limit salt (sodium) intake in pregnancy for three reasons. One, they believed salt intake contributes to bloating. (In fact, inadequate salt intake can cause bloating.) Two, that salt would increase water retention (Salt actually helps us regulate the right amount of fluid retention). And three that it would increase blood pressure. (Some studies have actually shown that additional salt intake can lower blood pressure in pregnancy.) These all are all issues that can develop in pregnancy and the thinking went that salt would only exacerbate them. Continue Reading

Himalayan Salt Lamp for Reiki

Himalayan Salt Lamp for Reiki

11/10/2016
The idea of a universal life force that is present in all forms of life is common to a large number of traditions throughout the world. For Melanesians, it is mana- from which we get our word manager. But this concept is found in ancient civilizations from the Indians of North America to the Siberian Yakutes, and from South America to Africa and Asia. The Asian version of this life force is chi, and in that tradition, this force circulates freely across everything and does not get attached. Later we will see the benefits of Himalayan Salt Lamp for Reiki. Continue Reading

Himalayan Salt Block for Salmon Gravlax

Himalayan Salt Block for Salmon Gravlax

11/04/2016
Impress your Jewish grandma with gravlax, or just impress yourself. Actually, my Nana preferred the cold-smoked cousin, lox, but gravlax is an incredibly easy, positively delicious way to cure salmon. The name comes from any number of Nordic fish dishes inspired by the openly morbid technique of burying in the ground (grave) your salmon (lax) with some salt cure. I like this dish because it yields a particularly moist, delicate, and lightly salted gravlax, since the salinity of the Himalaya salt block does not migrate as readily into the fish flesh as a packed cure of loose salt. Also, because you don’t need plates and weights, and because the salt blocks can be reused over and over again, the method boasts a certain elegance and economy of tools. Continue Reading

Himalayan Salt Block Cooking

10/26/2016
A boulder of Himalayan rock salt emerges from darkness of a 16th century mineshaft in Pakistan and explodes into light, catching and refracting the sun in hues ranging spring water clear to hibiscus pink to venison red. Stonemasons in a neighboring town then hand cut the great rock into a variety of shapes, providing the foundation for extraordinary new ways to prepare and serve food. Himalayan salt blocks, plates, bricks, and platters can be used for sautéing, grilling, chilling, curing, cooking, baking, presenting, salting, bathing, building, and contemplating. Continue Reading

Himalayan Pink Salt Applications for Infectious Skin Diseases

10/19/2016
Our skin protects us from outer influences and is our body’s largest excretive organ. Our skin mirrors our body and our soul. Mistakenly, it is thought that our skin has an acid protection coat, a notion that is promoted by the cosmetic industry. However, their products actually acidify our body even more, because our skin does not have an acid protection coat. The pH factors used to reason the existences of this protective coat are average values from studies with subjects who were already overlay acid. The inner acidity is mirrored in the skin. Our skin, as our entire body, needs neutral pH factors. Himalayan Pink Salt can regulate the pH of the skin optimally effects. Continue Reading

According to a study by Craig Garfield at Northwestern University, more American children are being diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) than ever before, placing the current number at approximately 10.4 million children in 2010. That’s up 66% from 2000, just ten years earlier. ADHD is a disorder that changes a person’s ability to focus, and typical symptoms associated with ADHD include disruptive behavior, in attentiveness, distractibility, anxiety, reduced cognitive thinking, daydreaming, and constant procrastination. Though there is no single test that detects ADHD, diagnosis is a long process that involves several steps, and patients need to display at least six or more symptoms over a six-month period.
